Today we talk to Viviana, founder of WellFitBox.
Originally trained as an Interior Designer, Viviana started her career as a Retail Designer in her native Italy before moving to London to study Design and Branding Strategy. Since then she has worked in the creative industry for over 10 years to help clients develop compelling branded experiences and messaging. Her passion for fitness and wellness has been always a constant in her life, from her teenager times as competitive ice-skater, to her PT qualification taken while having a full-time job.
Last year she decided to follow her dreams and founded WellFitBox to combine her passion for wellness/ fitness and her knowledge in branding & advertising.
WellFitBox is the subscription-based monthly wellness box designed with holistic wellbeing in mind, full of lovingly curated wellness products. We’re on a mission to get you feeling happier and healthier in your mind, body and soul.
We used to subscribe to a couple of subscription boxes and were so unhappy with their offerings. We were always thinking there should be something better… well… when we couldn’t find it we decide to create it.
It was simply perfect timings as we also needed as we needed a passion project to keep our mind busy and express our creativity.
We offer a holistic approach to wellness that helps promote overall wellbeing, fitness, motivation and body positivity.
We don’t offer just food or just beauty, we offer the full package (healthy snacks & drinks, superfoods, natural beauty products, fitness accessories, aromatherapy products, mindfulness and motivation goodies). We want to nurture the mind, body, and soul.
When it came to getting started, we researched the idea in order to shape the concept.
We reviewed all existing players in the market and asked consumers how what was missing in the current offer. We test all our all monthly product shortlist with potential customers and collect feedback on how to actively improve the product on an ongoing basis.
Working with influencers is key to our strategy: we have to share the same values and vision, we do not do any paid partnerships as we believe collaborations should be an exchange of knowledge not only an opportunity to gain visibility.
We collaborate in different fields so we have to split the response to this one across different subjects:
- Nutrition: @rhitrition
- Body Positivity: @chessiekingg
- Mental Health: @mentallyfitsam
- Meditation: @jodyshield
What advice would you give someone thinking of starting a business on their own?
Don’t do it to make money, do it because you love it and want to make your dreams come true. Put so much passion into it and be aware you will need to make sacrifices to make it happen. Your time will be probably the biggest thing you will need to sacrifice.
What is the book you would recommend that everyone reads and why?
“Your Dream Life Starts Here: Essential and simple steps to creating the life of your dreams” by Kristina Karlsson
What is the most worthwhile investment (time, energy, money) that you have made?
Time & Energy. I have a full-time job and run WellFitBox at the same time. This is because I do not want money to lead our decision-making process when selecting products for the boxes. We want to offer the best products we can afford, without having to worry about making a profit.
What one failure are you glad you experienced?
Over-ordering – Our initial expectations were super high and we totally overordered products in our second month (from 150 products our first month we order over 300 for the second month) … our biggest learning … start small and grow slowly and steady.
What’s your plan B?
Still keeping my full-time job in design and Brand Strategy or finally put my Level 3 PT certification into practice.
