Today we chatted with Ovi from SocialBee to discuss the future of social and social media trends.
After 10+ years of experience working in various firms, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, having also some entrepreneurial ventures in between, Ovi jumped full time into the startup world with Nugget, and is now focused on SocialBee.
SocialBee is an all-in-one platform for social media management that also offers concierge services.
We created SocialBee because we wanted to do all our posting, growth and engagement from within one tool that’s efficient, to save time and automate as much as possible so we can focus on what really matters – creating great content and engaging with our audience.
Why focusing on content, growth, and engagement at the same time?
Because people need all these facets to have a successful social media presence. And ideally, they should all work well together, as they are all parts of the larger whole.
Why do you think content is still king?
Everything starts with content.
This is why people go to social media for. And you’re not only competing with the content of your direct competitors, but you’re also competing with a picture of your target audiences’ niece. Or a breaking news story.
On social media, you’re competing with all the content on that platform. So you really need to make sure you produce top quality content that stands out.
How can analysing your competitors help you with your growth?
You can see what they are doing. What’s working (so maybe you can emulate that) and what not – so you don’t waste time on that).
Also, most of the times, their followers will be interested in you as well, but probably they don’t even know you exist. So by interacting with the followers of your competitor – either by following them or engaging with their content – you get in front of them and start the process of winning them over.
Why is engagement such a key practice?
An engaged audience is an audience that gets to know, like, and trust you. And these are key components to get people to buy from you.
Why are people still spending too much time on social?
The big social media companies employ the brightest minds to get us addicted to their platforms. And they are succeeding in that.
As consumers, we like to keep up with all the news and all the holiday pictures of our friends and families. And to see the latest funny cat videos, of course. As professionals and business owners, we really need to see what is our ROI (Return On Investment) on social media? Is the time we put into it worth the effort?
This is why we need to use automation and maybe even outsource some components, to really improve the ROI.
What are the top 3 social trends for next year?
- Conversational marketing – chatbots on social media and on websites will augment sales and customer support teams
- Increased content quality – as there’s more and more content out there, you really need to increase the quality to stand out
- More color – I think websites and posts will become more colorful, more vivid, and more fun
