Instagram, we seriously cannot keep up with you. Instagram has released 4 new features in the last week, including a whole new APP. Instagram has been changing so much in 2019 – shall we talk about Instagram hiding likes?
There has been a multitude of Instagram new features for 2019, so we decided to highlight a few that came out over the past week.
First, Instagram is literally allowing you to “try before you buy”.
Instagram is expanding their push into online shopping with a brand new augmented reality shopping feature that allows consumers to “try before you buy” products digitally before buying them. With the new Spark AR integration, users will be able to virtually “try before you buy” products before making a purchase in the app.
Instagram is currently beta testing an AR shopping feature with select brands like Warby Parker, MAC Cosmetics, Ray-Ban, and NARS Cosmetics.
Instagram is rolling out a new mode called “Restrict” that will let account owners effectively shadowban a user who comments on photos with offensive or abusive language. The feature first went into public testing in July and is now live.
Here’s a few exciting more features you should keep track on:
Product launch sticker
Announced earlier last week, Instagram revealed that it’s testing a new feature that will allow you to set reminders about upcoming product launches so you can buy products the moment they’re available, right on Instagram.
What’s really cool about this new feature is that when the time is nearly up, people who set a reminder for the product launch will receive a notification on their device.
In other words, your followers don’t actually have to be in the app to be reminded of your product launch. So it could be a great way to drive more sales in your next product launch on social media.
Instagram Threads app
First and foremost, Instagram released a new messaging app called Threads, with a surprise twist: it’s only for your close friends. How can you use an app like Threads for yourself?
According to Instagram’s announcement, the new app was designed to help you stay connected with your closest friends and includes several appealing features, like the ability to create “statuses” and let your friends know what you’re up to.
Over the last few years, we’ve introduced several new ways to share visually on Instagram and connect with people you care about — from sharing everyday moments on Stories to visual messages on Direct.
According to Instagram, they created the feature because the way we’re using Instagram is changing. With Instagram Stories, you can express yourself and your brand by sharing everyday moments, but as the Instagram community grows, you might want the option of keeping some stories private for you and your closest friends.
Once you’ve posted an Instagram story to your Close Friends list, your profile image will appear with a green circle around it, both on your Profile page (which only you can see) and in your Close Friends’ feed.
How could you use Threads for yourself?
When you open the app, it will ask you to pick your people: if you “uncheck” someone from this app, it will also remove them from your Close Friends list. If you don’t have a list set up yet, you can make one directly from Threads when you download the app.
One of the unique features in the Threads app is your “status”, which feels like a total throwback to Instant Messenger statuses – for all the MSN friends out there.
According to Instagram, you can choose from a suggested status ( Studying), create your own ( Chilling), or turn on Auto Status ( On the move), which “automatically shares little bits of context on where you are without giving away your coordinates.”
