Why Should You Find a Workout Buddy?
How many friends do you speak to about your well-being? Whether you consider yourself a solo-act or socialite, you might find exercise with a buddy has some of the following benefits:
Accountability – How many times have you made a commitment to yourself to workout but then bailed at the last minute? Make the same commitment to a buddy and your risk of a missed session might drop.
Enjoyment – How much fun could a workout buddy be? Whether it’s doing the exercise itself, talking about it beforehand or over a protein shake afterwards, the right buddy could bring out more fun from your fitness routine.
Intensity – How hard do you try? Workout with a buddy and an element of encouragement and healthy competition might push you both up a level.
Safety – How much harder could you push with a ‘spotter’? A workout buddy could help you push your boundaries safely.
Variety – How many more moves could you learn from, and do, with a workout buddy? Why not try some partner-based moves – you might find you know exercises the other has never thought of.
How Can You Find a Workout Buddy?
Whether you are new to town or already have a circle of friends around you, you can find a workout buddy in different ways:
Ask friends – Maybe they want a workout buddy too, or know someone who does.
Go to classes – Chances are you have something in common with your classmates, so strike up a conversation and find out.
Get social – Use Instagram and other social channels for the very reason they were built; to socialise!
Just like when hiring a Personal Trainer, your choice of workout buddy has to be right for you. You might benefit more from finding someone with a similar goal, style and overall vibe to you. You might want someone very different to you. Your call.
