Every year we gather round to discuss the trends that will shape up the coming 365 days, and every year we are challenged with new crazy fans or products or trends that may become part of our new daily routine.
2019 is going to be as promising as any other year, in fact, there are loads of trends that will be popping up in our inboxes and news feeds.
What I am here to do is to share with you some of the most interesting trends that have been coming about – some of which will not surprise you that much.
We talked about CBD a lot over the past year (including CBD fast food if you remember correctly.)
Well the CBD wave is not stopping any time soon. So much so, that CBD is now combining with Veganism as last December saw the UK’s first cannabis restaurant opening its doors. The Canna Kitchen opened on December 1 in Brighton – and specialises in vegan and vegetarian food.
The restaurant opened just in time for Veganuary, as veganism is still looking to take our January by storm.
The campaign is leading to a series of 2019 trends, including jackfruit becoming a centerpiece of vegan dinners and vegan high-tech ‘bleeding’ burgers soon available in more than 40,000 restaurants in the UK. Yes, Veganism met a new way of producing, creating, and almost “crafting” food. Is this an answer to the environmental cry for a more sustainable way of consuming food?
Needless to say, zero waste will be taking it up a notch next year, with companies like Oddbox at the forefront of the movement.
What is currently just a seed of interest, will later expand into a way for new and existing brands to be more mindful of their products in any stage of production. Dozens of zero waste shops opened in the UK in the past year, exposing the consumers to a new way to shop.
How is sustainability going to come into play with the small and medium brands now populating the industry? 2019 is going to have incredible answers to that.
