It has become a HBC tradition following this article on the magazine, to recommend the best cameras for bloggers.
We had great feedback from our article and thought it was due an update. For 2019, we asked our community again which camera they use and what they’re great for capturing to make sure you’re getting the most up-to-date advice.
Here’s what they had to say:
Recommended by Amy Meegan, from The Baking Nutritionist
Camera: Canon EOS 1300D
Why: The camera can link to your phone via WiFi for immediate camera-to-Instagram images and you can preview what your camera image will look like on your phone (important if you’re shooting landscape and sharing portrait on your blog or Insta.)
Recommended by Anne de Graaf, from Anne Travel Foodie
Camera: Nikon D5600
Why: You can buy a 35mm or 50mm lens for it and they make it possible to take beautiful pictures even if there isn’t that much light. Perfect for when you’re taking pictures in a restaurant in the evening for example. What the lenses also do well is that you can have a sharp image in the foreground and a blurry background – see her Instagram.
Recommended by Emma Hanton, from Essentially Emma
Camera: Sony A7III
Why: it is amazing! A mirrorless camera so it is so lightweight and portable to take out and about for shots. However, it still packs a punch with 4k video and a full frame sensor which are phenomenal for food photography and videography – see her Instagram.
Recommended by Romy, from Romy London UK
Camera: Canon EOS M3
Why: it’s a great all rounder and great value for money! It comes with a 15-45mm lens, I use a 22mm in addition which is awesome for flat lays – see her Instagram.
