Sitting slap bam in the middle of the working week, it’s no surprise that Wednesday has become notoriously known as #humpday.

While the cups of coffee get stronger, the motivation and self-discipline get notably weaker. Concentration levels begin to dip and those afternoon meetings simply seem to D.R.A.G.

Thankfully, The London Wellness Guide has come up with a few fab recommendations of where to mindfully unwind mid-week

Spa treatments, alternative therapies, yoga, Pilates, events, workshops…. You name it, they’ve got it. Why not head off to Bhuti in Richmond for an authentic wind down Wednesday? They’ve also got an organic café that is well stocked with raw and delicious goodies for a mid-week treat. Take a friend and get bendy with some Bhuti breathe + flow yoga? It’s nice to do something that lets you chill out in good company. Take time out of the working week and rejuvenate the senses.

The Floatworks

The very concept of ‘floating’ brings with it a dreamy, somewhat ethereal vibe, one that inspires a sense of calm and tranquillity from the onset. At The Floatworks in Vauxhall, you’ll discover what it’s like to really switch off. The floatation tanks are filled with warm water (heated to skin temperature) and magnesium rich Epsom salts (to keep you afloat). These sensory deprivation pods are specially designed to block out sound and light so your brain is given some much needed time to properly relax.

One floating session lasts for an hour, but the benefits last for much longer! Expect to enter the ‘Chill Room’ feeling fresh, mindful and blissfully at ease.

The Life Centre

Head West to The Life Centre in Notting Hill for some post-work Pranayama and meditation. Offering a real range of styles, classes and teachers, The Life Centre is well known for its commitment to community. Don’t just meet friends here, make friends. For those that feel intimidated by yoga, The Life Centre offers great newcomer classes to help ease beginners into regular practise at their own pace. Check out the complimentary therapies on offer; nothing better than a Thai Yoga Massage to keep you going for the rest of the week.

Rooftop bars are SO yesterday, rooftop yoga is the new today. Why have too many mojitos and forget the night when you can enjoy sun salutations at sunset and remember the view. Yogasphere offer classes on floor 24 of The Shard… this has Zen written all over it. Check out their website for other yoga locations around London, you might find yourself in Regents Park, Mayfair or The City if those options suit? A pretty nice way to cruise into Thursday!

The key to a winning Wednesday formula is to plan something to look forward to at the end of the day.

Though it might sound self-explanatory to many, if you keep this as a day of self-indulgence, your energy levels will stay high!

Workout Wednesday doesn’t have to mean a hardcore boxing session or a high energy spin class, it can also be used as that day where you take the time to work out what your body needs, sometimes a sports massage, a yin yoga class or a meditative moment alone is the best thing for you.

It can be hard to stay grounded and calm in the bright lights of London!
