Welcome to our New Blogger Spotlight. In this feature, we look through the newest bloggers to the community who have introduced themselves in the ‘New Bloggers‘ group. We then pick some of our favourite blogs that show the most promise to be featured on the HBC magazine. If you’re new to the community, check out our ‘Getting Started‘ guidelines, which have lots of advice on how to make the most of the platform and share your blog. Or, if you’re ready to start your own blog, try our ‘Zero to Hero‘ beginner’s blogging course in the HBC Academy!

Danielle from Take the Lunge – About me

I’m a magazine journalist and have been writing about health and fitness for a few years now. After having friends and family come to me with questions about how to start exercising, what happens in a spin class, what to do with weights, I thought I’d put all of that kind of information in blog form.

My mission

I’m going back to basics and giving people an honest, jargon-free account of what happens in fitness classes – ie. in hot yoga you’ll probably sweat out of your shins and might not last the whole class – so that they can hopefully try things for themselves with a better idea of what to expect, and avoiding any mistakes that I (frequently) make!

How I got into blogging/Instagramming

I’m a writer, but a lot of the cool facts and experiences I was having weren’t making it into the magazine I used to work for, so a blog was the perfect place for it.

The post you’ll love…

Top tips for hot yoga novices – I was so glad I’d read about drinking water before the class and not eating too much before I went into my first hot yoga class – it’s one of those things where people really need to be prepared, so I hope it will be really useful for people. And I also go into quite a lot of sweat-related details, and share a selfie of my very red face.
