Gill – See me, not M.E
By day I am a project manager. By night I am a blogger, recipe developer, aspiring author and a spoonie*. I am passionate about food, cooking, nutrition and how to use all of these to optimise my health. Ultimately I want to show people how easy it is to cook fresh food. *A spoonie is someone living with a chronic illness.
I would like to share my story of how I went from being bed bound with chronic illness to living my best life. My intention is to help others learn how to harness the healing powers of good nutrition. I use balanced nutrition to help reduce my symptoms of fibromyalgia and ME. Changing the foods I ate changed my life. It is my mission to empower those with chronic illness to go on their own journey of discovery – I hope my story will inspire that. I am passionate about the healing power of food…and food in general! A bit about ME 😊 – a girl’s gotta laugh! I have Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) and Fibromyalgia. ME is more commonly known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).
ME is a long-term (chronic), fluctuating, neurological condition that causes symptoms affecting many body systems, more commonly the nervous and immune systems. M.E. affects an estimated 250,000 people in the UK, and around 17 million people worldwide according to the charity Action for ME.
Susan – How to stay well in the run- up to Christmas, and why it matters more than you think
I’m half of The Age-Well Project. I’m passionate about healthy ageing: I spent 12 years caring for my mum who had severe dementia so I know the worst can happen. I also know we can change how we age with a healthy, fun and delicious lifestyle.
I’d like to pitch a talk about the key lifestyle choices we need to make to help us age well. I promise they are all fun, delicious and easy!
I’d particularly like to focus on how to pay attention to our health and immunity in this hectic, dark, cold and food-filled season!
