What if you could now foster these joint collaborations from the comfort of both of your homes?

Following a test this past summer, Instagram is now letting users broadcast live with a friend.

Adding a friend to your broadcast is simple: just tap the new icon on the bottom right (it’s shaped like two smiley faces) and select a friend to add, which will split your screen horizontally.

The owner of the broadcast can remove their guest and add someone else whenever they want – which is not really nice, but who are we to judge?

The actual stories will look different in Instagram’s feed, too. Instead of a single live circle, you’ll see two circles stacked on top of each other.

Live video helps you share in an authentic way, but sometimes it can be intimidating when you’re on your own.

Instagram is seeing the power of stories as a tool to get people back to the platforms, and live are one of the most powerful tools for brands and influencers alike.

Since introducing live video last years, millions of people have used it to connect with friends and followers in an authentic way. Now, you can have even more fun connecting with people in the moment.

How can you harness this new feature for your own platform?

  • Host a live Q&A with a fellow influencer
  • Host a special interview with a relevant expert

The update is live in both the App Store and the Google Play Store today.
