Astonishingly, 1 in 5 people in the UK report feeling unusually tired in their day to day life. They start their day lacking energy and feeling groggy and when it comes to bedtime they just can’t switch off and unwind.
Does this sound like you?
We’ve teamed up with Link Nutrition to find out how we can improve our sleep and to learn more about the supplements that could help.
Do you feel that you get enough sleep?
Is your sleep deep and uninterrupted?
The old quality versus quantity debate springs to mind here and, here at Link, we feel that with sleep, there really must be a good balance between the two. Spending 8 hours tossing, turning and waking up every half hour will not be more beneficial than 6 hours of solid sleep. So how exactly do we hack our sleep and supercharge our rest?
Stick to a routine
It’s a lot easier said than done and we get that you may not always be able to stick to a strict bedtime (because, life) but try and aim for a regular bedtime routine each evening. Give your body a good amount of time to relax and unwind after a busy, stressful (normal) 21st century day – read a book for 30 mins before bed or listen to a soothing podcast. Adding this ‘me’ time into your nightly routine will give your brain and internal body clock a pattern to follow – and we all know how well the body works off routine.
If, however, you feel like you’ve exhausted every ‘wind down’ remedy, then why not give our Food Based Relax complex a try? L-Theanine (the main ingredient) is an amino acid scientifically proven to reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality. The rest of our blend is comprised of soothing botanicals such as Siberian ginseng and essential B vitamins to promote utter relaxation and help you say goodbye to stress.
Ok, so the title of this point might be a little deep but what we mean is get to know yourself and your body. How much sleep is right amount for YOU? It doesn’t matter if your mate Megan goes to bed at 12, wakes up for sunrise yoga at 5 and runs a marathon after work – find what is best for YOU and build up your routine around that. It will take some trial and error and you may have to be a hermit for a week but it will benefit you in the long run and allow for a more energetic balanced lifestyle.
Give your bedroom a revamp
NHS experts state that there is a strong association in people’s minds between the bedroom and sleep. It seems pretty obvious right? 21st century life has introduced numerous distractions which have now ended up making their way into our bedrooms. TVs, tablets, phones and just about every electronic gadget emits a type of light called blue light. Chronic exposure to this wavelength of light can lower your body’s production of melatonin – a hormone that regulates sleep. Your bedroom should be a place of utter zen, peacefulness and calm – take these distractions out of the room at least 30 minutes or so before lights out.
Enlist some natural, food based help
Our Night complex is a non-drowsy sleep formula meaning that you can enjoy a deeper, higher quality of sleep without waking up feeling groggy. It may sound too good to be true but there is scientific evidence behind each of the included ingredients. Our formula contains quite a substantial dose of magnesium, scientifically proven to play a crucial role in the body’s ability to sleep. In addition to this, we’ve also included glycine, an amino acid proven to promote and improve sleep quality. The whole formula is Food Based meaning that each ingredient is included as a complete matrix of proteins and other naturally occurring substances, rather than an isolated synthetic form. The benefit of this is that the vitamin or mineral is delivered to the body as if it were from food, it is therefore more easily recognised by the body and rate of absorption is greatly increased.
