More and more people in the UK are now following a gluten free diet, for various medical or health reasons.
Party season can be a bit of a nightmare if you are gluten free, as many canapés and desserts often contain gluten. Too many glasses of fizz and not enough to eat equals feeling extra rough the next morning!
There are loads of great gluten free canapes and party dishes available in shops this year, so get with the spirit of Christmas and go gluten free with your party to make your gluten free guests feel extra welcome. Many of these are so good, no-one else will ever know they are gluten free.
Marks & Spencer Mini Chicken Kievs
How to make them most of it: These garlicky, naturally gluten free bites are fantastic and totally delicious. Serve them hot from the oven on a pretty Christmas platter, with sauces for dipping. There are also some other brilliant gluten free options in the M&S range (including some gluten free vegetarian options), so it is worth checking out.
Lemon Meringue Yule Log
How to make them most of it: A guaranteed show-stopper centrepiece that is gluten free and a refreshing change from the usual heavy Christmas puds. Place in the centre of your party table, sit back and enjoy the compliments!

Asda Free From Christmas Cupcakes
How to make them most of it: Asda have a huge range of gluten free this year, with some really innovative products across their Extra Special and regular ranges. I loved the look of these Christmas-themed cupcakes, which are perfect if you don’t have time for home baking.
There are also a number of full-sized gluten free desserts in their range. I am already drooling over their chocolate and salted caramel naked layer gateau (check the free from freezer section for that one).
Tesco and Sainsburys Gluten Free Party Food Ranges
How to make them most of it: Not quite the same quality as the M&S range, but you get more bang for your buck with the Tesco and Sainsburys gluten free party food ranges. Both supermarkets have a very good selection this year. At Tesco you can find a huge range, including crispy cheese and garlic stars, mushroom arancini, pigs in blankets and cream cheese jalepenos.
As for Sainsburys, their range includes mini hash brown frittatas, chorizo wrapped in pancetta, mini crumbed cheese bites and British pork belly squares. Some items in both ranges are labelled gluten free on the front, others are not though so it is always worth having a peek at the ingredients to make new gluten free discoveries.
