Foodie Spotlight: Ashleigh from Balanced not Clean

Hey, I’m Ash – creator of #balancednotclean on Instagram. Blogging helped me find an escape from fear of food through posting tasty, nutritious and visually appealing recipes. Instagram and it’s recovery community took me in when I was 13. I’m 17 now, and the confidence and connections I’ve gained through social media are immense. Having it as a place to socialise, share content and have fun gives structure to my day.

I’d always been a part of a sporty family, but my sport had to stop when I got sick. Weight lifting has given me an opportunity to build myself up at my own pace. Thus far, I’ve relied upon my personal experiences to offer support, but I want to take that to the next level. Blogging has motivated me more than anything to get qualified. I also aspire to get a book released in shops. I released a recovery and recipe ebook online for my AS Extended Project Qualification – but a tangible book would be amazing.  For the meantime, though? Fun as usual! 🙂

My dietary lifestyle

Rather than ‘clean eating’, I endorse a lifestyle where no food is off limits. Yeah, we’ve got to make sure we get adequate nutrition through health staples such as fruits and vegetables, but I also feel that we have to include the fun stuff to keep us happy.

My favourite recipe…

All of them! 😉 if I had to choose, it would probably be one inspired by a fellow Instagrammer known as @the_beltsander. He invented a really easy protein mug brownie, but it can go rubbery if overcooked.
