What a night, ladies and gentlemen, what a night. The HBC team has barely recovered from the second edition of ThatProtein & HBC Health Blog Awards, yet we thought we’d write a few notes about this stellar night.

It’s been almost four years since the Health Bloggers Community started. What a ride it has been – no, seriously, it has been.

Despite having been the most challenging year yet (both personally and professionally), 2017 has proved me that there is a need in this world for incredible people who can support each other as they share their deepest passions.

As I was interjecting the panel Q&A last Thursday, I do believe that community and hard work are essential. Hard work does not mean a lot of work. Most of the time, it means the right kind of work – and a lot of work on your mindset.

As I mentioned last week:

If a girl who grew up surrounded by cows and chicken did it, so can you.

What can I say, I am such a joker.

The truth is, we are on a mission to support bloggers and online content creators to find THE best tools to create their dream business – create stellar content for brands – or maybe launch their first book. You name it.

This is our first token to let you know that we believe in you.

Just as you all have believed me since that day I set up a Facebook group 4 years ago.

We’ll stand stronger because we are NOT alone. We are a community.

A little, dysfunctionally adorable family.

I want to thank our amazing judges and panelists for their support and hard work. Our gorgeous co-founders from That Protein for setting this amazing project up with us last year. Our sponsors for taking the time to celebrate the amazing shortlisted bloggers. The team, for working hard to pull this off. I wish I could list everyone, but it would probably be an endless shopping list.

You can find all the names here.

A few highlights from the night come from some of the winners (You can find all the names here.)

“I love the layout of the site. The promise of learning as she learns is quite compelling, she’s great at photography and has an honest demeanour.” – Rupy Aujla on winner of Free-From & Illness Recovery Vicky from theflourishingpantry.com

“Their content is brilliant and consistent. You can tell they have a real passion for healthy living based on the content they share. It’s really enjoyable reading their blog.” – Roz Purcell on winner or EU blog Victoria from sailingthroughfitness.com

“It’s really slick and professional and, while it’s aspirational and perhaps not accessible to all, it covers a range of wellness aspects that make it an interesting read. it’s fun and bright and I’d definitely refer to it for beauty information and cool new fitness classes.” – Rebecca Pearson on winners of New Blog Vanessa & Kat from BrunchnGrind.co.uk

“Jessica is inspiring, her blog is constantly updated, and she uses social media in order to promote her message and further the reach of her blog. Her branding is on point, but her genuine passion for helping others is what stands out.” – Fab Giovanetti on Health Blogger of the Year Jessica from positivelyjessicaward.com

Some kind words from our bloggers:

What a night! As some of you will know, I was shortlisted for the ‘Best New Blog’ award back in July. Since then I’ve been working on getting as many public votes as possible and trying to improve my blog as much as I could in time for the awards. I was lucky enough to come runner-up in my category – as I only started my blog 5 months ago I’m pretty happy with that!

Sophie – Oat So Delicious (Read her post here)

As this was my first official blogger event, I wasn’t sure what to expect. At the age of 36, I hoped I wouldn’t feel like a fish out of water. For a natural introvert, it’s not always easy to walk into a room full of strangers – particularly when it seems like everyone else knows each other! But the reception couldn’t have been more welcoming, and it was lovely to be part of such a positive and uplifting event. The atmosphere was buzzing, and it was great to see such a wonderful turnout – the room was packed!
