Gareth Nicholas and Kathryn Fielding are both qualified nutritionists who work alongside the VITL team. Following his school education, Gareth worked in private health care and health club management, as well as being a member of the Reserve Army, serving in Iraq in 2003. Nine months later, he went back to university to study sport science, focusing on physiology and biomechanics before moving into performance nutrition. Since then he has worked in the industry for over 10 years, working for large supplement brands, as well as supporting and educating individuals and athletes to help them achieve their goals.
Kathryn has always been interested in the direct link between diet and wellbeing and wanted to learn the science behind why our bodies thrive off certain nutrients, whilst others can be harmful enough to bring on disease. She trained at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, a four year in depth course, however feels her true learning has happened since qualifying. She says "we are all do individual and a tailored approach to nutrition is key."
