9-5 job or full-time food blogger?
I’m still working as a flight attendant, not a 9-5 job at all, but I’m not a full time blogger. Still juggling both since I’m still not ready to give up flying. I guess I need that human factor in my life and I’m thinking that maybe the turning point when I finally decide to go full time blogging will be when I start doing photography/food styling workshops in addition to cooking ones I had been doing for years now.
How do you still manage to find the right balance?
It is not easy. Often I’m not at home for days in a row, working 3-5 day shifts, staying in hotels. That makes it really difficult for me to to create content for blog and Instagram since I need to be in my kitchen to make food and then take photos. And then when I arrive home after days being away, I want to spend some quality time with my family and friends. I guess you have to plan ahead and be organised. Not that I’m managing all the time. Sometimes all the plans turn to nothing. But then I try not to be to hard on myself and enjoy the time off with my loved ones.
How did you first get started as a food blogger?
I started three years ago after years of thinking about it and telling myself that I couldn’t do it. At that time I had already been doing cooking workshops and loved doing it. It felt amazing being able to influence lives but I also felt that I wanted to do it on a larger scale. I wanted to share my passion for healthy food, to motivate more people to try something different , something new to them, and not that complicated at all that potentially could make them happier and healthier. I wanted to show that healthy food can be easy to prepare, delicious and exciting. Back then I was taking my picture with my iPhone camera and had no clue how to be or become a food blogger. Today I know what a complex job it is. That you need to be good in so many different areas: recipe creating, cooking, food styling, photography and editing, writing and social media. It hasn’t been easy but I learned to love all the aspects, especially photography.
Career highlight since being a food blogger?
Being recommended by Vogue.fr as one of 5 Instagrams to follow in 2017.
Best campaign you’ve ever worked on?
IKEA sustainable living campaign in which I wrote about ways of saving energy and water in one’s home, about reducing waste and food waste, about recycling and reusing. It felt amazing to have been a part of such amazing project. There will be another amazing collaboration coming soon I’m still not allowed to reveal, but I can tell you that it unites my passion for sports and exercise with sustainable living.
Favourite food? Chia pudding for being such a wholesome and delicious breakfast and honestly it’s been a life saver during my works shifts. I always carry a bag of seeds in my carry on:)
Favourite drink? Walnut Latte. I adore coffee and my favourite way to have it with is with homemade walnut milk and dash of vanilla.
Favourite recipe? Hazelnut Carrot Cake with Cashew Cream, my version of a classic Carrot cake made with whole bunch of wholesome ingredients. It is wheat free, made with rice and spelt flour, and roasted.
